Fourteen (14) players are selected for the second of the three periods of the qualifications for the Euro-2017. One of the main new things is to see Ann Wauters back in the selection. A little bit more than 5 years after her last game for the national team, the 5 times European Player of the Year, 35 years old, 1m95, is back to help Belgium on the Road to Euro-2017.
Philip Mestdagh, the national head-coach, has received this good news with great pleasure. But he received also some bad news: Noémie Mayombo, the point guard of Enisey Krasnoyarsk, suffered a knee injury which occurred in the Russian competition ten days ago. She will be not able to play this window.
Looking at the last selection during the first window last november, Julie Allemand is newcomer. She takes the place of Noémie Mayombo.
The Belgian Cats wil be reunited on Monday 15 february for the medical check-up. The Belgian National team is going to stay in Namur throughout the week to prepare the second qualification game of the Group G, versus Poland. This crucial match is schedulded on Saturday February 20th (20:00) at Hall Octave Henry, Namur (Saint-Servais).
Belgium is going to play a friendly game on Wednesday February 17th (15:30) in Amsterdam against the Netherlands.
